Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes! Great news for all you medical drama fans – Shonda Rhimes, creator of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice has confirmed her new medical drama Off the Map will be hitting US screens on 12th January.
She’s working with co-writer Betsy Beers (again) on what television network ABC describes as “an uplifting medical drama that explores how far one has to go in order to truly heal.”
Off the Map is set in “la cuidad de las estrellas” (the city of stars) – a small town in the South American jungle, which is served by just one understaffed, under-stocked medical clinic. Sound familiar? Yes, I thought so too – it reminds me of the classic ER episode Middle of Nowhere, when Benton travels to Mississippi to work in a tired clinic and ends up becoming the town hero.
Needless to say the clinic will be full of young, idealistic, HOT doctors who all seem to be running away from personal demons and carrying plenty of emotional baggage.
Check out the trailer below.
It sounds amazing doesn’t it? It has all the necessary ingredients required from a heart-wrenching medical drama. Bring on 12th January.
